Happy Birthday to ME + Blessed To See 43!!!
Turning another year older doesn’t feel as daunting as it has in years past. This year, I had set a milestone goal to lose 100 lbs by my birthday—and I’m thrilled to share that I achieved that goal early, on December 5th! I could not feel more blessed. God has given me another year on this Earth with my family and friends, and for that, I am truly grateful.
The journey began with a white shirt. It was the turning point when I saw pictures from my daughter’s engagement party. Seeing myself in those photos made me realize how deeply unhappy I was—mentally, physically, and spiritually. That moment was a wake-up call: I had to take control of my health and my life.
It’s been 21 months since that day, and the transformation has been nothing short of life-changing. Every moment of this journey has been worth it. Beyond the physical changes, I’ve healed parts of myself I had neglected for so long. I’ve done the hard work of forgiving—both others and myself. I’ve reconnected with my Lord and Savior, finding strength in my faith to guide me through the ups and downs.
Taking the time to focus on myself was a gift I didn’t realize I needed. The slow, deliberate pace of the journey allowed things to fall into place exactly as they needed to. This was about more than just shedding pounds; it was about healing—literally from head to toe.
As I step into this new year of life, I’ve set another milestone goal for myself: to push my body to be in the best physical condition I can possibly achieve. As a former athlete, I’ve missed the challenge of learning, growing, and honing my skills to compete at the highest level. Now, my greatest competition is my old self.
Ernest Hemingway once said, “There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” That quote resonates deeply with me as I embark on this new chapter. I’m excited to see where this year takes me as I continue to strive for growth, strength, and self-improvement.
To anyone reading this who feels stuck or overwhelmed: know that it’s never too late to start your own journey. Small steps, taken consistently, lead to big changes. Surround yourself with love, faith, and determination—and you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish.
Here’s to growth, healing, and becoming the best versions of ourselves. Cheers to another year of life and all the opportunities it brings!
