This couple was an absolute pleasure to photograph! Not only were they effortlessly photogenic, but their natural chemistry and laid-back personalities made the entire session flow seamlessly.

I’ve known Anastasia since she was in kindergarten with my daughter, and she’s been like family ever since. Photographing her and Junior felt like such an honor, especially since this was their first professional session as a couple. I was determined to challenge myself, showcase my skills, and create an experience that truly captured their essence.

We started the session at one of my favorite locations this year: Lake Benson. It’s a versatile, family-friendly spot that offers year-round opportunities for stunning backdrops. This fall, the vibrant autumn colors and the golden afternoon sun provided the perfect setting to complement the couple's energy and connection.

I love scouting locations a few days before a session, even familiar ones like Lake Benson, to ensure everything aligns with my vision. Outdoor elements can be unpredictable, so planning ahead allows me to anticipate any surprises and create the best possible experience for my clients.

One of the highlights of this session was turning an inspiration I had earlier in the week into a stunning reality—seeing that vision come to life was so rewarding. So as the sun began to set, we moved towards the water for some those dreamy sunset shots I invisioned.

To finish the session at dusk, we strolled on along the path into the open field. I love using the soft, all-encompassing light at this time—it acts like a natural 360-degree softbox. The warm glow perfectly balanced the vibrant contrast between the couple and the striking red barn in the background, creating a beautifully harmonious composition.
